This Week in Social Media (2/16/10): Sharing On Facebook and Google Buzz May Be Bad News

Are You Buzzing? Google released “Buzz”, a new place to share updates, photos, videos and links. Are any of you using it yet? If so, how?

Google Buzz May Be Bad News: A recent blog by HubSpot focused on Google Buzz, they announced that there are about 176 million Gmail accounts and only 75 million Twitter accounts. Those 176 million people logging into Gmail won’t be able to miss the “Buzz” link, which could be bad news for other social networking sites.

Sharing On Facebook: Facebook updated their statistics page and announced that sharing has increased 500 percent in 6 months. This means that the average user is sharing over 12 pieces of content each week. Users are also posting 60 million status updates per day.
